manga: Tears of A Lamb Vol 2-3

I find it interesting that this is simultaneously the most lighthearted and the most angsty of the Banri Hidaka series that I’m reading. It even has not one, but two girls with serious health issues that manage to be upbeat and active and cheerful.

Given that a large age difference (early-20s man and teenaged girl) is a major plot point in I Hate You More Than Anyone and V.B. Rose, I’m amused by the revelation that Kei is a year older than Kanazki. They are adorable, though I sometimes worry about his nerves.

I really like what we’ve seen so far about the school doctor, Kei’s brother, and Suwa in high school. A straight telling of that probably wouldn’t interest me very much, but I like it when presented as backstory of interesting adults, and I like how the different sets of twins have the same issue (identity) springing from opposite roots (fraternal twins vs. identical twins). Speaking of twins, one of Kei’s brothers needs to change his hair or something, so I can tell them apart.

My only problem is that I’m vaguely irritated by the student council guy who knew Kanzaki is high school, but that may just be because he’s the typical flirty-slightly-sneaky guy who seems to exist to provide a form of fanservice I’m rather ho-hum about.
