So, apparently, Jamie Campbell Bower has beencast as Jace in the movie adaptation of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series.

I have only read the first book (Short version:  While I have no use for Harry Potter and dislike both the character and series, I apparently do like emo gothic teen books adapted from Harry Potter fanfic that I can only assume was EXTREMELY out of character to go from Draco to Jace.  I probably should have thoughts re: plagiarism but, well, I read HP with nothing else to read and spent a lot of the time wondering if Rowling was sharing royalties.  Back to the point!)

Bower as Jace?  Really?  Ok, first of all, I'll probably watch it regardless unless I end up hating the other books, but I really don't have much faith in Hollywood remembering that it's supposed to be Clary's story, not Jace's, but Jace is supposed to be angsty, sarcastic and charismatic.  While Bower has...improved considerably in Camelot sinced the start of the series, he still comes across as a petulant child anytime Arthur is supposed to be impressive, funny, charismatic, inspiring, angsty conflicted, or basically doing anything other than  standing around chatting.  Admittedly, a better written character (it wouldn't be hard) could be another story.

Of course, aside from him and the Vampire Diaries boys, I have no idea what the current pool is for US actors playing the 17-20 year old characters.  (And so have no idea who most of the actors being discussed in the comments are.)
