Togari Vol 4

[personal profile] meganbmoore has a confession to make. [personal profile] meganbmooreis HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE to scenes where a Damsel in Distress shouts a hero's name, and Subject of Scream magically appears to save the DiD with his sword (or weapon/power-of-choice...but it's usually a sword...)  [personal profile] meganbmooredoes not require that she ship the SoS and DiD on such occasions, whether because she dislikes the pairing, or because they don't seem to have that kind of relationship.  In fact, she has been known to squee when such scenes occur and she is opposed to the pairing. It is A Weakness.

That said: [personal profile] meganbmoorehad to repress a squee in the first chapter of the volume, as she was at work.

Anyway:

*Tobei is becoming borderline nice and heroic.  In his way.  It's sweet.  As is his reaction when the kid says they can share a family name, since Tobei doesn't have one.  one day soon, Itsuki will have to sit him down and explain basic human kindness to him.

*The cover has black feathers floating by Tobei's face.  I though of Clamp.

*Ose is growing on me.  I figure I may actually like him by the time the series ends.  In a mere 4 volumes.  *sadness*

*Ose also has very unique ideas about motivational speeches.  Me?  I'm thinking it could be saved for sometime when you aren't in the middle of a face-first freefall from 30 or so stories up.  Sure, Ose would be fine, but Tobei would go splat, and then where would Ose be?

*We now have The Villain, who looks like a cleaned up Tobei, has an evil version of Ose(kinda) and can contril Toga.  Fun.  From hints dropped, I assume that we will eventually learn that he is responsible for the death of Itsuki's father, and that Tobei will take care of that.

*I'm not sure I'm overly fond of Lady Ema, but I greatly admire her ability to be a machiavellian badass for the Greater Good.  As she defines it.

*Itsuki, sadly, did not get to do much this volume.  I did, however, enjoy her mention of how she needs to get a collar and leash to keep track of him.  Not that Iwant her to, but I enjoy the allegories to his being a wild animal who followed the first person to be nice to it home.  I sincerely hope the "Itsuki doesn't do much" thing isn't a trend, though.
