Clare...kissed Raki. Whhhaaaaa? And not a peck on the cheek "run and hide, kid" one either. That scene was 100% typical action hero telling his girly to go and he'll catch up, cue the swelling romantic music there. Except that the action hero is an adult female and the fainty heroine is a male kid. And, you know, Raki is all young and little and...10 or so...
*boggles*
I shall now handwave it into "She wanted to shut him up and let him know she cares...but totally not in a pedophilic way!"
Clare tries to fake Ophelia out by letting Ophelia chop off her arm and toss her off a cliff. Sadly, it didn't work, so Ophelia turns Clare's arm into mincemeat and sets to the torture.
BUT!!!!
ILENA LIVES!
Honestly, I figured all the Claymores who went after Teresa were dead. She saves Clare and then they engage in one armed swordswoman training, because it's the only thing to do when you save the ward-turned-warrior of the woman you once hunted from a fellow Claymore. Their mutual obsessing over Teresa seemed to help them bond.
And then ILENA HACKS OFF HER OWN ARM AND GIVES IT TO CLARE SO SHE CAN BE STRONGER WHEN SHE FIGHTS OPHELIA!!
Because, you know, my brain wasn't still reeling from the whole kissing thing or anything.
Ophelia, naturally, is own an awakened one, prompting this little speech from Clare after some fighting:
"I'm Clare, Number 47. I've taken on Teresa's flesh and Ilena's right arm. I'm the one who's going to take the head of that one horned monster, Priscilla. Forgive me, but I have to take your soul, too."
Despite the early "WTF???" it was so much awesome.
OH!!! And ANOTHER new Claymore named Rafaela arrives. She has one eye and looks to be amazingly efficient, serious and stoic.
ALSO!!! Is it just me, or is it starting to look like "serious brother complex because of tragic death involving a yoma" is almost a requirement to become a Claymore?

I see I begin to lose coherency when talking about this one, too.

Oh, and Clare and Manji should bond. Or maybe not. Clare's so serious and stoic he'd probably tell Hyakurin to get her drunk just to see if it'd make a difference.
