the following are to be blamed on crumpeteer

 They're her fault.  Honest.

I must now choose between them and then figure out what I should delete to make room...

the used book rack, it was seductive...and manga...

As I am ALL ALONE at work again today, and thus working the closing shift, I had free time between lunch with the parents and coming to work and ended up going to Hastings, where the used books rack seduced me into buying the following:

Blood and Iron by Elizabeth Bear*
Ombria in Shadows by Patricia McKillip
Melusine by Sarah Monette*
Seimaden Vol 1 by Higuri You**

*I swear these have been recced to me, but I can't remember who by.

**This involves a man who became a demon to save his true love, only to have her die anyway, and has been sitting around waiting for her to be reborn ever since, and has to win her back now that she has been.  Not quite my usual fare, but then, neither is Cantarella.

Meanwhile, has anyone read/does anyone read the following(all of which caught my eye while I was looking for a couple manga that weren't there):

Air Gear(it sounds fun, but A) same person as Tenjho Tenge, and just glancing through the first volume of that set off the wrong alarms, B) the rivals clubs/gangs thing has gotten rather old, to me)

GinTama (aliens invade Earth and put the samurai out of work, so they take up odd jobs?  Could be amazingly awesome, or amazingly wrong...)

Kurogane(half metal samurai boy out for revenge with a talking sword.  See above.)

Also, no one wants to explain Tsubasa Vol 16 to me?

Upside to being alone?  Aside from the fact that I'm getting used to it, I don't have to worry about anyone looking at my Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service manga and giving me weird looks.)

Shaman Warrior Vol 1-2

In the land of Kugai, supernatural warriors known as Shamen Warriors have fought for the king and helped bring peace to the land.  Like most of these kings, though, the king and his advisors decide that they're too dangerous to keep around in times of peace, and need to be disposed of.  The problem with that, however, is that the people views the shamen Warriors of heroes.  The answer, of course, is to discredit a famed Shaman Warrior, and use him as a scapegoat.

Dear brain...

You read Saiyuki.  You do not question Sanzo using credit cards.  Nor do you wonder where he and Gojyo get their cigarettes.  Or where Sanzo gets his newspaper.  You also do not wonder where the apparently advanced communications system comes from, and it does not concern you that no one in ancient China notices a FREAKING JEEP driving around.

So why is it that you, the EXACT SAME BRAIN, are driving yourself crazy with the timeline in Tin Man...specifically the fact that no more than 10-12 years can have passed for D.G. since the flashback arc, yet something AT LEAST nearing 20 years has to have passed in the O.Z., when the very, very simple and obvious explanation of "time passes differently in the two worlds" will suffice?

YOU ARE THE ONLY BRAIN IN THE WORLD THAT WOULD DO THIS!!!!!!!

(Actually, I know exactly why...Kazuya Minekura, love the series as I do, doesn't really bother to explain ANYTHING along those lines about that world, but Tin Man is very careful to explain so many things that I expect them to explain EVERYTHING that might need to be explained...)

I should have a cranky Sanzo icon.
