jdrama: Nodame Cantabile Special, eps 1-2(complete)
I spent most of this evening watching the four hour(!!!) Nodame Cantabile Special. FOUR HOURS!!! (And, you know, pausing to do things...) Like the series itself, I find it hard to think of anything intelligent or coherent to say about it, so instead, just a few random comments.
Before I say anything else: If there's anymore Nodame Cantabile Live Action, and Chiaki doesn't get his act together and start appreciating Nodame more, I swear I will find a way to bend the laws of reality, enter the series, and dropkick him into another time zone. Yeah, he seemed to make progress here, but I don't trust him not to regress again. I think I spent more time wanting to strangle him here than anything else. (Look, when you follow a girl halfway across Japan, declare that you can't live without her, and ask her to come to Europe with you, I assume you've made progress. If you regress back to before awesome and dramatic declarations...well, he's made it to kissing and more hugs now, so I'll have hopes.) Anyway...
I loved Yuko and Jean. Yuko I loved from the start, with her complete animosity towards Chiaki and her and Nodame's "No! MY boyfriend is the better conductor!" rivalry. She's like a more high class Nodame. Jean I thought was kinda bland, until Chiaki mentioned that Yuko was "something else"(re: scary) and Jean took it as "your girlfriend is the most awesome thing ever."
I also loved Tanya and Frank. I'm glad they were cured of their crushes on Nodame and Chiaki early on, though those were rather traumatizing ways to do it. Then again, if you can't handle Nodame's love of anime and ability to learn new languages through dubbed anime, and Chiaki's obsessive compulsiveness, especially concerning music, then you'd never lastagainst with them anyway.
There was way too little Kiyora and Mine and Mine/Kiyora. As much as I love Chiaki and Nodame and Chiaki/Nodame(despite the desire to strangle him at times), Mine/Kiyora is much closer to being my OTP.
Awesome music, as always.
Mixed in with the wanting to strangle Chiaki a lot was the "awww" over him hyperventilating at the word "girlfriend," and being jealous(how many times was his brain clearly going "male...near my Nodame...male...touching my Nodame...male...talking to my Nodame..." in these four hours, anyway? Then there was the "NO! Female not Nodame near me!")
And Chiaki can't fly without his Nodame. Aww.
Also, I bet Nodame reads and cries over schmoopy shoujo romances. And makes Chiaki read them.
And he was depressed when he lost his Nodame to conventions. But then was stupid and didn't used the Nodame-blessed conductor's baton and screwed up. Served him right.
And Chiaki can't fly without his Nodame. And gets depressed without her. Yet is still an idiot about that.
And Mine and Kiyora DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE SCENE TOGETHER!!! (Apart from on the phone.)
