Eternally Bad: Goddesses With Attitude by Trina Robbins

This is a very lighthearted, irreverent collection of myths about various “bad girl” women, written in what I’m told is a “chick lit” style. (I have disliked the little chicklit I’ve read-the Pink Carnation books are as close as I get-so I can’t speak as to the veracity of that.)

Some of the stories are about goddesses, but there are also a number about mythical sorceresses and ancient queens. Biblical women (most of whom are edited out of the official canon) are given their own chapter, and the book covers a pretty wide range of topics. I’d actually be interested in Robbins tackling individual mythologies, instead of just touching on a bunch of them.

There’s nothing deep or introspective to it, but it is a lot of fun to read, and does cover some more obscure myths, too.
