May I just say that I think the show is much better when it's doing creepy spooky things are out to get you and family curses and town secrets than when it's having the evil Troubled of the week or poor Troubled who doesn't know what s/he is doing and/or can't control it? I mean, sure, ghosts and gothic ladies in lighthouses and THE WOODS WILL EAT YOU are more my thing in general, but this is one of those shows that really is at its best when it's focused on the metaplot. (I've also noticed that the best "troubled of the week who can't control/doesn't know about hir powers are the ones where the Troubled is basically trapped in the town because of their Trouble.)

Does anyone know what all Yang Clan* adaptations have English subtitles ad are available online?  As near as I can tell, the only nes to actually be released in the US are the Shaw Brothers' 14 Amazons (haven't seen it yet) and the recent Guo Li series (seen it own it). I also have most  the Alec Su version and the 80s (85?  86?) one that's only 5-6 episodes, but haven't been able to find any others.

*Fmous Chinese family of warriors with lots of sons and one daughter.  Dad and sons go off to war and dad and most brothers die in one bottle.  Of the 3 remaining sons. one gets amnesia and ends up with The Enemy and one becomes a monk.  Wives decide they'll just defend the capitol themselves.
