Actual conversation at work:

(context: we have new clients, and they got everyone small trophies* that basically said "Thanks for working for us!")

COWORKER:  Getting this trophy makes me feel like Homer!

ME:  *blank stare*  *tries to think how this could relate to a guy who's been dead a few thousand years*

COWORKER:  It's like getting a reward for nothing!

ME:  Oh, Homer simpson?

COWORKER:  Well...yeah.

ME:  I thought you meant the Greek writer.

COWORKER:  Who?

ME:  He wrote The Iliad and The Odyssey.

COWORKER:  *blank stare*  Yeah, I just like getting things.


*A coworker commented on the trophies having actual marble bases and my immediate thought was "That will be the murder weapon!" and then I reminded myself that my life was not a mystery novel.)
