-There sure are a lot of ex-vampires running around. Two of whom are playing sisters! Actually, as much as I hope we get to see more of their relationship (especially given their respective professions) I was a bit disappointed about the sisters reveal, as I was hoping to ship them. I just hope we aren't headed towards a triangle with Nolan.
I share most of your Defiance thoughts (can't recall how many times I thought 'So they're supposed to be Carter+Zoe 2.0?' throughout the pilot) but this bit specifically. Though I'm holding out hope for shipping a hate-sex kind of thing with Amanda and Stahma.
I didn't get the ex vibe with Miles and Kelly, either. I imagine she trusted him and he got some of her men killed or something along those lines.
Oh, hey, middle-aged biracial lesbian pairing that's treated like a totally normal thing. *happy sigh*
My favorite thing about this episode, ngl. Though I never suspected Rachel and Jane were related. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it, though. It'd make their dynamic even more interesting and make it more likely that we'll get to see her again.
I cannot comprehend why Rachel chose to take Aaron with her. My personal interpretation is that she realizes how useless he is and since this is a suicide mission, she thought it'd be better for him to die than someone who could actually help Charlie/Miles/the rebels. I imagine the actual reason is because he knows enough about the nanites to help destroy them...or something.
