They get the "flawed" part right with Praed but not with Costner...Costner's flaws-the rebellious son-are in the past and his present is perfect. Praed just charges in because he has to and hopes that if it gets him killed, the next guy will do a better job than he did, because he has faith there WILL be a next guy...it's not remotely about him, he just happens to be the guy doing it at the time.

And yes, he is very lucky in his choice of friends.
