Week 4 and some of 5(aka-the rest of Jan) reading and viewing
(21) Spiral: The Melody of Logic Vol 1(rewatch) (22) Yojimbo (25) Emperor of the Sea Vol 3 (26) Sanjuro (29) Elizabeth I and (30) Rashomon already got entries.
(23) How to Steal A Million: The last in my backlog of Audrey Hepburn movies(the backlog is gone, I'm sad) Quite, quite fun, like all the others. A touch odd seeing a young Peter O'Toole for me...I've only seen him in more recent things before.
(24) GTO: The Perfect Collection: This is an anime I liked but didn't love, though I think the fact that I adored the live action affected that a lot. Still, rather fun, though more for the second half than for the first.
(27) Galcir: A jdorama which(once you accept that it's a series based on movies about the ultra naive cowboy 100 or so years out of date going to the big city) was quite the cracky fun. It's essentially about Shinnosuke(Fujiki Naohito), a cowboy sent to Shibuya to find a girl named Imoko, who ends up getting involved with a Para-Para dancing Gyarusa(Gal Circle) Think Gokusen, only Yankumi's a male cowboy and the miscreants everyone thinks are a group of useless troublemakers are the girls who stereotypically harass our poor heroine. Now, it's not as GOOD as Gokusen, but was much, much fun, even if my OTP never came through(Who care's about a stinking 10+ year age difference I want my OTP! Sigh, at least the ending doesn't preclude it, and my secondary OTP got together and made babies.) A large part of the awesome, though, was Fujiki Naohito, who usually plays the cool, charismatic guy(and is about the hottest thing ever in the movie g@me--NO LINK, it's automatically doing that--which this icon is from, but is likely better known for playing the hot doctor in 1 Litre of Tears, which I haven't seen) playing the ultra naive and almost childlike Shinnosuke. And dancing the Para-Para. In spaghetti western cowboy duds. With the world's silliest smile on his face.
(28) The Inspector Linley Mysteries: Another british mystery series, though quite different(read: darker) than the other's I've watched. Not as good as the Poirot or Miss Marple mysteries, but I'll be checking to see if any more have been released here. Can't say I'm overly fond of Linley's girlfriend though(character, not actress, actress is pretty good)
(27) Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs: Only the second book, and the series is already starting to veer into multiple werewolves and vampires lusting after the heroine. Still, I won't complain as long as it doesn't turn into bed hopping(the fact that Kim Harrison has avoided this so far gives me hope) and I rather like the books, and I have a weakness for urban fantasy that adds organization and structure to things.
