My newly spawned anime fan,  calixa, needs anime recs.   She likes mysteries, comedy, romantic comedy, wuxia, cute otps, and fluff.  Here is her post on what she's seen so far.  Go forth and rec.  But no yaoi.  And only good stuff.  Friends don't rec bad anime to friends of friends.

well, mostly she just doesn't want yaoi. She's actually not an incredibly shojo-y person, but as it's new, she'd rather enthralled by the bright colors and spontaneous sparkles and flowers. They're so bright and shiny and amazing when you're new.
