AYAKASHI!

I just watched the first episode of Ayakashi, a short anime that's a collection of 3 supernatural historical horror stories. It is, as [livejournal.com profile] magicnoire put it, "kinda awesome." The anime Mononoke(no relation to Princess Mononoke) is a followup to it. I shall most definately get the DVDs.

I bring you the awesome openning credits which, IMO, are what Samurai Champloo would kill to do so well:

Oooh! And those are different from the opening credits to the final story featuring the medicine seller!

oooooo

Are those equally awesome?

Yes! The art style is a little different because the first story was designed by Yoshitaka Amano by the looks of it and whoever did the medicine seller story is way more stylized but the feel and tone is the same!

Yeah, those opening credits really do look like Yoshtaka Amano's art, don't they? The actual story isn't as obviously his stuff(closer to normal anime animation) but still clearly based on his designs, esp. the women's faces.

How did I never hear of this until yesterday?
