 Dear ABC Family,

Sleeping With the Enemy is not some cheery romantic comedy, as you portray it in your previews.  It is about a woman who fakes her own death to escape an abusive husband, starts a new life and finds a new love, only to have her husband track down down stalk them, and eventually attack them.  I pity the people who tune in to your station who are not familiar with the movie and expect a cute romantic comedy, which your previews indicate it is.

Thank You,

Me

I.

How. HOW can you get cute romantic comedy from that? EVEN THE TITLE says "this movie is not a happy movie".

WTF.

This feels like it should've been on Lifetime instead of ABC Family. Incidentally, I love when ABC Family airs these movies that are so bad, they're great (see: Here on Earth, any film starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, etc).

Are they seriously marketing it like that? That movie creeped the HELL out of me when I was a kid.

Perhaps it will fly with the same people who think "Every Breath You Take" is a devotedly romantic love song, instead of the manifesto of a creepily obsessed stalker?

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww.

(Why have I been saying that a lot tonight?)

I actually saw ABC's commercial last night. I've never heard of the movie & if it hadn't been for this post, I would have thought it looked like a cute, lighthearted, romantic flick! Talk about misleading!

Sleeping with the Enemy was one of the first movies I saw when I was a kid. ^_^ I'm curious to see this trailer . . hopefully it's not as farfetch as The Shining and Mary Poppins trailers on Youtube. ;) At the same time, I'm always supportive of the element of surprise because too often trailers give away everything, y'know? When I was younger, I always imagined myself making a movie that I'd advertise as a comedy for a few weeks, then a horror, then a drama and just confused people so much that they'd have to check it out. XD
