I love me some Last Exile and I've even gone so far as to write Big O fanfic, but I'm going to have to give the nod to The Gokusen. Really, it's its own special brand of crack. Though I have to admit the manga is just a wee bit crackier. (The live action show also seems to be completely different and yet, still crack. I haven't seen that one though.)

The live action was my first asian drama, and one of my favorites. But yes, from what I understand, they're very different.

The anime keeps fairly close to the manga, though it's only 13 episodes so it only gets so far. I've no idea how close the live action is (and aren't they doing a new season of it?).

Yup. The second season of the live action had a completely new class, and I'm sure the third will, too.
