I figured that was where you found me.

I think a large part of what makes the series good is the contrast between the different cultures, and the focus on showing the cultures and storyarcs through female (and not always warrior) eyes, when they're normally shown through the eyes of the male warrior. Which is why it was jarring when we shifted to Valedan, because then it was closer to the normal fantasy storyarc through male eyes, and while it would be the expected approach elsewhere, it wasn't what we'd been built up to expect here, despite being good.
