More pretentious and deeply symbolic dreams! Kotori joining in on the fun! Actually, she really shouldn’t be having to see that. I have to wonder, though, just how much mileage Clamp is going to get out of multiple versions of the same dream. Not to mention feathers and sakura petals.

We also continue with the Highly Manipulative Flashback Scenes Of Kiddie Cuteness. This is for the best, really, as seeing little Kamui being so into little Kotori (and little Fuma so into little Kamui, so I guess only the angst level has really changed) is probably the main thing that makes he like him. And one must wonder what was up with that hug at the the tree. Really, Kamui, at the point where the girl is completely freaking out and flailing and knocking you both over because of a hug, you really might want to consider explaining yourself, instead of continuing with the silent angsty swearing. Just a suggestion. Especially if you have a tendency to let yourself get banged into a pulp before letting her get scratched.

Then there’s Sorata’s “I’ve chosen you,” and the meaning behind it. You know, Sorata/Arashi, thanks to the anime, is pretty much my Clamp pairing of choice, but there’s a certain cruelty to it on his part. I mean, really, how do tell a person “I was told I’d die for someone I love. I’ve decided that will be you,” especially when you’ve only just met someone. That’s an enormous burden to be putting on another person.

And the Sacred Swords have the same elements of the human body? WTF? And I already knew this part, but…women essentially giving birth to swords? And dying? That…uhm…is a whole other level of symbolism. (Plus, if it doesn’t hurt Arashi, why must it always kill the others, huh?)

Then there are the two new Seals, Karen and Yuzuhira. Karen didn’t get to do much in the anime that I recall, but she certainly knows how to make an entrance in the manga. And you know, you have to admire a woman who can make an entrance in that outfit while sitting in a tree. I mean, forget the brazenness: TREE BARK! Yuzuhira is little and energetic and I adore her. Especially when she was going on about how Kamui was so small. (And Kamui makes Kotori look teeny…that is one small girl.) Kusanagi, though, has to be starting to wonder why he keeps ending up with teenaged girls in his arms.
