Lady in the Water

Do I wanna go see this?  I really have little use for Shymalayan's movies(probably misspelled his name)  I've seen 1 of his movies, Unbreakable, and while it was enjoyable as a love letter to superhero comics,  I had literally everything figured out within about twenty minutes.  And I've only ever paid attention to 2 previews of his movies, The Sixth Sense and The Village, and in both, I figured out the huge shocking twist from the previews.

I do, however, have a deep and intense love for sea people(though no movie will ever top "The Secret of Roan Inish" when it comes to that)

Well, after the bad reaction that The Village got (the twist was pretty much obvious way too soon), Night has promised that there's no twist to Lady in The Water, that it's simply a cool suspenseful movie. I'm not totally sold either.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Sixth Sense, thought Unbreakable was okay, and enjoyed most of Signs. The Village wasn't HORRIBLE, just not good. So, I'm on the fence about this latest film, too. I haven't decided. On the one hand, I do like Ron Howard's little girl and thought she was the saving grace in The Village. But, on the other hand, I'm not a big fan of Paul Giamatti. *shrugs* Sorry, I can't help you decide because I haven't decided either.

Lately, I'm learning to trust my instincts. I got very excited about seeing Potc2, and wow, was that a great movie or what? I was ambivalent about Superman Returns, and it turned out to be the crapfest movie of the summer.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go see it, so I don't need the convincing but this is what my friend told me (roughly translated):

"I think you'll like it coz the story is very "all-ages" in feel ... modern day fairy tale of sorts"

I have mixed feelings about his movies. . . I didn't like Signs but found the Village to be enjoyable, but I think it's the stronger character development in Village that allowed me to ignore the obviousness of the ending.

Lady in the Water, I'll give a chance to.
