Know what one of my favorite (materialistic) things about Christmas is?  The part where people give you gift cards and you can go into a store and buy 6 movies and not pay a penny.

Today I acquired:

Brave
Legendary Amazons
The 39 Steps (Rupert Penry-Jones version)
Geisha Assassin
Painted Skin: The Resurrection
Flying Swords of Dragon Gate

Of these, I've seen Brave, The 39 Steps, and Flying Swords of Dragon Gate before.  I've heard good things about Painted Skin: The Resurrection, and liked the first one a lot.  The General Consensus on Geisha Assassin and Legendary Amazons seems to be "not great but it has lots of women with weapons and agency Doing Things, so who's complaining?" and Legendary Amazons is about my favorite part of the Yang family legend.

They had Painted Skin: The Resurrection on my flight to Japan, but sadly I hadn't seen the first one so I ended up not watching it. I really need to get back into watching more subtitled stuff now my dissertation is over!
