*be's vain*

So, I love it when random people just start talking about my hair.  For those who don't know(and I think I actually did cave in and post a few pics at one point) my hair is reddish-brown and usually looks solid red in the sun or in bright lights, ande it's past my elbows, just a couple inches short of my butt.

I was at the apt office, paying rent, and one of the managers was leaving on an errand and just stopped and strokes my hair and starts saying it's the most gorgeous hair ever.  Is it TOO vain for me to say that this(including the hair stroking by near-total strangers)  actually happens at least once every few months?

And my mother and brother think I should cut it off to my shoulders...

If I were a dog, I'd be growling.

Your hair sounds lovely, but near-strangers shouldn't be touching anyone I care about ... .

(I wonder if Shigure secretly feels this way ... did I ever mention that I'm a Dog too?)

Wow! Sounds gorgeous.
I really don't have the patience and I usually hack it off once my hair goes past my bra-strap Do you do anything special to take care of it?

Don't cut it!! Trimming lightly or dusting hair regularly help it feel fresh & look great without sacrificing all that length. I get the itch to chop my hair every couple of years (mine is about halfway past my rear) and I always end up growing it out again. But I've never gone shorter than mid-back. Shoulders might be a bit of a shock.

I like when people comment on my hair but I'd rather they didn't touch it unless I know them. I remember when I was 12 or so, standing in line at Disney World to feel a tugging on my head & some man was commenting on mine & my sisters' hair (their hair was as long as mine back then) & then he actually tried to tie them all together! The knot didn't hold, of course, & we were all laughing but it was a little too familiar all the same. I think the guy's wife about died from embarrassment.

Btw, do you ever find you get so comfortable/familiar with your hair that you don't realize just how long it is? I'm always seeing someone with long hair & thinking, "wow - look at her hair" before realizing mine is the same length or longer. The time I cut mine to my midback, shampooing & brushing felt bizarre because it was so short. And I'm obsessive about taking care of it.

*envies your hair*

I've got mine short now and after my replacement hairdresser screwed up the cut and made it even shorter I am thinking of going through the long arduous process of growing it longish.

To be fair, those few pics didn't exactly show off that famous Megsie-hair.
