*be's vain*

So, I love it when random people just start talking about my hair. For those who don't know(and I think I actually did cave in and post a few pics at one point) my hair is reddish-brown and usually looks solid red in the sun or in bright lights, ande it's past my elbows, just a couple inches short of my butt.
I was at the apt office, paying rent, and one of the managers was leaving on an errand and just stopped and strokes my hair and starts saying it's the most gorgeous hair ever. Is it TOO vain for me to say that this(including the hair stroking by near-total strangers) actually happens at least once every few months?
And my mother and brother think I should cut it off to my shoulders...

If I were a dog, I'd be growling.
Your hair sounds lovely, but near-strangers shouldn't be touching anyone I care about ... .
(I wonder if Shigure secretly feels this way ... did I ever mention that I'm a Dog too?)

Date: 2007-07-05 08:25 pm (UTC)For your Chinese zodiac sign, it goes by year; see this table. That's a pretty good table - it gives the element too (I'm an Earth Dog). In Western astrology, I'm a Leo with Libra rising.
I love playing with other people's hair (mine's only about 1.5 inches long!), but there are only a few people whose hair I'd touch without asking.

Date: 2007-07-05 09:07 pm (UTC)I like when people comment on my hair but I'd rather they didn't touch it unless I know them. I remember when I was 12 or so, standing in line at Disney World to feel a tugging on my head & some man was commenting on mine & my sisters' hair (their hair was as long as mine back then) & then he actually tried to tie them all together! The knot didn't hold, of course, & we were all laughing but it was a little too familiar all the same. I think the guy's wife about died from embarrassment.
Btw, do you ever find you get so comfortable/familiar with your hair that you don't realize just how long it is? I'm always seeing someone with long hair & thinking, "wow - look at her hair" before realizing mine is the same length or longer. The time I cut mine to my midback, shampooing & brushing felt bizarre because it was so short. And I'm obsessive about taking care of it.

Date: 2007-07-06 05:39 am (UTC)I've never had a totyal and complete stranger touch my hair(not counting kids or little old ladies) though i have had them comment on it...often, it's someone who only very vaguely knows me. For whatever reason, people have just had a tendency to touch my hair my whole life.
