next dorama

Ok, so, after Young Warriors, I need something light.  Something that eases up on the angst.  Something that won't shatter my heart.

Sadly, the only two in the backlog of late that I KNEW were safe in that department were Nodame Cantabile and Fantasy Couple, which were the 2 dramas I watched BEFORE YW.

And so I turn to the f-list for help.  Not overly concerned about mystery, romance, action, comedy or drama.  All I ask is:

1) No more than medium levels of angst.  By that I mean something like My Girl, It Started With A Kiss, or Hana Yori Dango.  It's more angst because you care than angst on it's own, and it's not a driving force.

2) More importantly(I can handle higher levels of angst as long as it's called for and this one is met) NO CHARACTER DEATH!  Period.  Preferably not even hate-worthy characters.  Unless it's the only suitable punishment.  But characters that bad usually kill someone over the course of the series, so...

Anyway, help is much appreciated.  Here is what I have:

cdrama(both mainland and TVB):

(The) Gateau Affairs
Guts of Man
Laughing in the Wind Vol 1
Lethal Weapon of Passion and Love
Net Deception
Patriotic Knights(actually something of a high contender...it has Chen Long and investigation reveals that both couples live ans get together.  But it's wuxia, so I know SOMEONE will die...)
Romance of Red Dust
Twin of Brothers

jdrama:

Komyo ga Tsuji
Kougen e Irasshai
Love Generation
Nanisama
Oh Oku
Rondo
Shinsengumi
Slow Dance
Taiyou no Kistesu
Tokyo Wankei
Toshiie and Matsu

kdrama:

Green Rose
Lovers
Lovers in Paris
Queen of the Game
Spring Waltz

Gateau Affairs is so cracked out, it can't possibly bring you any angst or heartbreak. I think you're safe with that one. Net Deception DOES have angst, but its within reasonable boundaries, I think. It's also quite good, I like Myolie Wu + Jack Wu as a couple, and Wong Hei and Myolie are really convincing as siblings... (there is a crying scene that was really well done between the two of them).

Xiao Ao Jiang Hu isn't really angsty. Well, about as angsty as Jin Yong ever gets... so about ROCH level. There's unrequited love and poisonings mostly in the first half, as far as I can remember.

Taiyou no Kisetsu is angst personified, so skip that for now. Love Generation is angsty, but again, reasonably so - I think it's more frustrating than sad.

Haven't seen any of the kdramas you have, so...

Coffee Prince is one of several that, if I had them, it would just be a list of top contenders. I've long since accepted, though, that as long as I have the option of watching something on my TV screen, I'll never make it more than an episode or two into something I can only watch on the computer screen

Hello. Just letting you know I friended you. Interesting journal.

I don't know if you write any Remington Steele fic, but you mention reading some. The fanfic community at: http://community.livejournal.com/steelewriting/ might interest you.

Well, I gave up on Lovers in Paris about 3 episodes in, which, given the crap I will watch, should tell you something about it. It also means I cannot tell you if anyone dies.

In Spring Waltz the only character death is not a main character - it's the hero's evil original father, which considering he sold the heroine into slavery at one point and did many other terrible things, made me not at all sad. It also has Daniel Henney.

I haven't finished Lovers but it is angsty and probably not a pick me up dorama. But if does have an incredibly hot hero.

Lovers in Paris: Yeah, I have it because you gave it to me. You also gave me All In, and since I could only make it through 15 minutes of it...

Spring Waltz: The Daniel Henney mention stillmeans little to me, sadly, but that level of character death I can handle.

Lovers: Yes, Lee Seo Jin is amazingly hot. Though he shall never surpass his performance in Damo in that department.
