Lee Jun Ki's girliness

My computer is having a fast day so I have been stealing pics of My Girl from soompi(I have since given up though, since it started to lag) and am struck by how amazingly girly he is.  I haven't really looked at stills of him since soon after I watched the show, and when you're actually watching him, he's 100% guy and I forget how girly he looks.  But seriously guys, look at this:

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Girlyman! My abiding crush in My Girl. And then he went and got all manly for Time of Dog and Wolf. Shame, I say and mean it!

You'll never recover, will you?

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Me and Calixa. Both traumatized by the change.

[identity profile] zaza-tk87.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
he really is.it amazed me how a guy can look that girly and pretty but in real is a 'guy'.

him shedding that girly image in time of dog and wolf might be one of the reason I really like the drama besides the story execution.

*read the above comment before me*

haha.

I *LURVE* manly jun ki in TODW <3
I read news that he's going to shed off his weight for an upcoming project. that's my 'shame, I say'. he's better with muscle and meat and manly. ^^

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
'shame, I say'. he's better with muscle and meat and manly. ^^

Yay, somebody agrees!

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
...

Why do they always want these guys to lose weight? Can they not see that most of them need to GAIN some weight...

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't get past the "manly" cigarettes in ToDW...they look so icky.

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
But he doesn't smoke in the drama itself. I think these were just promo shots.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a major bonus.

It's funny, I'm perfectly fine with cigars and pipes in an historical context, but the second they show up in something contemporary, or if I see any cigarette, I'm immediately alienated.

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea if you'll like Dog/Wolf (though I adored it, and it does have a strong plot) but if you don't, it certainly won't be for smoking reasons. Btw, I don't think people smoke in dramas much anyway. Am trying to think of instances and coming blank (I remember seeing people with unlit cigarettes in some dramas, but not really smoking. Hmmm).

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean in general(fiction and RL) not just dramas.

I'm not sure about Dog/Wolf either. I tried really hard to get into both Green Rose and Queen of the Game and couldn't. Honestly, I don't know why, in both it seemed good and like it had a good plot, had good acting, and (while I had some issues with the hero in QotG) I liked the leads in both, but I have yet to finish the first episode of either.

There were many scenes in ALTK when Rain was going to smoke but never ended up doing it :D

[identity profile] kingcrankycat.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I refuse to believe that's a man

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
This was my initial reaction when I first saw pics. It's probably why his first scene had him shirtless and running from his fling's mobster boyfriend. Kept us from wondering the whole time.

[identity profile] kingcrankycat.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
She's just flat chested and easily passed as a boy, even on tv.

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's funny because My Girl was the first thing I've seen him in, and remember thinking 'wow, he looks like a girl but comes across as very masculine anyway, how does he do that?'

But mmmmm, since I prefer my boys masculine, I loved him in Time Between Dog and Wolf when he got all short-haircutted and manly and buff.

I mean, compare:

to his girliest, King and Clown:

I am hoping his upcoming drama Iljimae has him looking more like the former and not the latter :)

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember that your My Girl pics were the first time I ever saw him, and my reaction was identical to kingcrankycat's...you just can't believe it.

But then when he acts(at least in My Girl) he isn't remotely girly at all.

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he definitely comes across as masculine in his manner unless he is deliberately trying not to (like in K&C where he apparently took lessons in how to move like a girl). It's interesting, because I can think of some girly-looking jdrama stars where that is not the case (they don't come across as overtly masculine) and I guess that's not necessarily just tied to looks, now that I think about the contrast with LJK.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's funny, but a lot of the JE boys don't look remotely girly to me. Very pretty, yes, but not feminine. Like...Takki is definately pretty, but I always go "WTF?" when people talk about him looking feminine, or he passes as a girl in something, because while he's pretty, he looks all boy to me.

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Takki or Yamapi don't look girly but Kame? Jin? Definitely incredibly girly. And no idea whether MatsuJun looks girly, but he often comes across that way. I don't mind it (all of them are too young to be crush objects for me anyway) but find it amusing :)

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Kame looks feminine to me, but not quite to the point of being girly. Outside of Gokusen 2, Jin just looks slutty to me. MatsuJun, I think, can just come across however he wants to come across.

Now, Tegoshi Yuya? Looks like a cute little girl.

[identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Kame looks feminine to me, but not quite to the point of being girly.

LOL. You have high standards for girliness :)

Kame is really rather girly. Not quite as girly as the guy in Queen's. I also mistook him for a girl, mostly because he was introduced while cosplaying a girl.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
See, that would change my opinion...

[identity profile] shewhohashope.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
He made a very convincing girl despite not being very girly in boy clothes. He was actually prettier than the girl he has a crush on.

(And the plot synopsis mentions a girly boy and a manly woman as the main characters, so I assumed he was the manly woman.)

I've pretty much stalled on Queen's because I can't handle episodes that are over an hour long, it really tests my patience for some reason, where watching two episodes in a row will not.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I think part of it is that I saw Nobuta wo Produce, where he's all boy, long before seeing any of the more "girly" pics and such that emphasized it.

[identity profile] shewhohashope.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
When I saw 'My Boss, My Hero' I totally thought Tego was a girl pretending to be a boy, but I couldn't figure out why.

Part of this was watching the Taiwanese and Japanese versions of Hana Kimi and Coffe Prince at the same time, though.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I kept getting distracted by Tego's gieliness in MBMH. And his puppyness.

Re pic #2: Lord, change his part to the other direction, and he'd make a great Yukimura ... although his face is actually a little too broad in repose for the Man from Kudoyama ... .

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm...

Actually, he might actually make a decent Yukimura, come to think of it.

(I was wondering why that particular pic called to me when I was grabbing them)

No one is as beautiful in that certain way as Joe Cheng. You people really NEED to watch the Taiwanese Dorama The Rose.

Joe Cheng is very pretty(ISWAK is by far one of my favorites) but 100% boy.

EEE! I love Jun-Ki!! He looks girly but can act soooo MACHO!

Remember when Yu-Rin and he are at the spa and she's all "Unni!" and then everyone thought he was a girl?! Ha ha ha!

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
And his reaction is all "why do people do that to me?"

This dude is the only Korean actor whom I have high regards for in being, oops I mean looking, like a man AND a woman. He passes for both :D
