NO MUSHROOMS MEANS NO MUSHROOMS!

I ordered my chicken carbonara sandwih and said "without mushrooms." They put my chicken carbonara sandwich into the oven and asked if I wanted mushrooms. I said no.

MY CHICKEN CARBONARA SANDWICH HAS MUSHROOMS!

I am working almost a full shift on my day off because there are no evening services today and we just got busy. I am not one to waste opportunity for overtime, but we are in the "Why do I do this to myself?" stage, not the "Shiny shiny paycheck!" phase.

All I asked for was that I be allowed to run out and get a chicken carbonara sandwich without mushrooms! I was denied!

Also, you know what the problem with fantasy bricks is? No matter how good the book is the rest of it always looms.

That and it generally means that the writer probably didn't take an objective look at their novel(s) and there's a lot of unnecessary junk in them (I'm currently reading through "The Name of the Wind" which has one really really good chapter for every three "just get on with it already!" chapters) Bah~

That's not really the case with this one. It's just that I've been reading a lot of shorter books lately, for the most part.

I think I've heard of that book, but can't place it.

It got a lot of rave reviews when it came out about a year and a half ago, mostly from people who generally don't read fantasy. It was recced recently to me by someone who does know and read fantasy, so I decided to give it a shot. Thus far I'm not particularly impressed (I'm about 3/4ths done), but when it is good it is very good indeed.

I've decided to treat it much as I do Battlestar: Galactica; it's good, but way overhyped.

The most widely hyped fantasy tends to be hype from people who don't normally read fantasy. And what they hype tends to be nowhere near the cream of the crop.

Yeah, that's why I pretty much avoided it for so long.

There are some very good ideas stuck in there (magic based on scientific principals like transfer of energy and heat conduction, for instance), but the execution is so... blah...

I'm already trying to decide what to read next even though I haven't finished this one yet.

Oh, and mushrooms are awful.

Oh, that is so annoying. NO MUSHROOMS MEANS NO MUSHROOMS!

NO MUSHROOMS TWICE!

And they cut them up smal, and there's a decent bit of dressing, so I had to dig them out...

Your tiny cranky chibi-Deadpool never fails to make me squeak in delight. This is not at all helpful for you, I know. Could you at least pick the mushrooms off? (Not possible if it were, say, mayonnaise instead...)

It and this are my oldest icons and I will nevereverevereverever delete them.

At one point, I thought I had accidentally deleted him, but then I realized I had just changed the tag, and panic was averted.

I managed to get most of the mushrooms out, but there was sauce and it was mixed in with the chicken and bacon and they were in small pieces and it was difficult AND MY FOOD WAS GETTING COLD AND I WAS NOT EATING MY DELICIOUS SANDWICH!!!

You hate mushrooms or you can't eat them?

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hate. They're like tomatoes: I like the flavor, but the texture makes me gag, and I can only eat them in a format where the texture is comletely gone.

So mushroom soup is ok with you? I like mushrooms XD although I've only ever eaten a few varieties of them.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I've actually had mushroom soup where the mushrooms were ground up and it was almost a paste that I've really liked before.
