manga backlog

I have finally tracked down all parts of the manga backlog(err...there may be strays I haven't found yet, but I doubt it), which got a bit scattered and hidden during the cleaning spree a few weeks back. While I am a firm believer in stockpiling reading material in case of dire emergencies, I think it has passed the stockpiling stage. Ditto for comics. I'll probably do a separate post for them later. Trying to list the novels backlog would break LJ in half.

Anyway, tell me what to read. I didn't realize until I was putting them all together how far behind I'd fallen on some series. I'm probably going to leave off the posting on individual volumes for a bit and doing more 2-3 volume posts (already been starting to) to help with the catch up. (This doesn't include a few series where I'm missing the next volume or more, or manga I'm following in scans, as they don't properly count as backlog, though I'll likely knock them out first. I don't count Samurai Deeper Kyo in this, as what i've read through the end is a combination of scattered scans, raws, and translations.)

[Poll #1273005]

*short story collections

ETA: Cain Saga is only the first 2 volumes. Cursed "no editting polls."

Does Hoshin Engi get better going in? I couldn't even finish volume 1, it was so incoherent.

Much, much better. It is not a series for the faint of heart, though, because it involves decapitation, cannibalism, cruelty, psychotic politics, and mind games *nods*

I think so. But then, I also watched the anime only a month or two before reading Vol 1, so it wasn't as bad. In general, though, I don't have any problems with it.
