manga backlog

I have finally tracked down all parts of the manga backlog(err...there may be strays I haven't found yet, but I doubt it), which got a bit scattered and hidden during the cleaning spree a few weeks back. While I am a firm believer in stockpiling reading material in case of dire emergencies, I think it has passed the stockpiling stage. Ditto for comics. I'll probably do a separate post for them later. Trying to list the novels backlog would break LJ in half.

Anyway, tell me what to read. I didn't realize until I was putting them all together how far behind I'd fallen on some series. I'm probably going to leave off the posting on individual volumes for a bit and doing more 2-3 volume posts (already been starting to) to help with the catch up. (This doesn't include a few series where I'm missing the next volume or more, or manga I'm following in scans, as they don't properly count as backlog, though I'll likely knock them out first. I don't count Samurai Deeper Kyo in this, as what i've read through the end is a combination of scattered scans, raws, and translations.)

[Poll #1273005]

*short story collections

ETA: Cain Saga is only the first 2 volumes. Cursed "no editting polls."

I voted for various things but I rank Four Constables first because I've been eyeing that one for a long time and want someone else's opinion on it. Someone who might be the other half of my brain. :P

Does Hoshin Engi get better going in? I couldn't even finish volume 1, it was so incoherent.

I considered deleting all of my other votes and only voting for Tokyo Babylon, but I figured I'd leave a comment instead, :D

Granted, I haven't read a lot of the manga on your list, so my votes are biased!

...That is a lot of manga...

I still recommend The Cain Saga, though.

you need ot read the last two volumes of Basara just for the funny. okay and the serious, but mostly the funny. when you read the funny you will know what I am referring to.

With great restraint, I did not click Tactics and Cain Saga, because I suspect you will throw them against the wall. The women are all dead or evil.

Note that Cain Saga is quite misogynistic, and also kind of bad compared with Godchild, which is also misogynistic but has a great deal of artistic virtue and one female character of awesomeness (Cain's little sister.)
