X/1999 Vol 7-8
You know, Fuma didn’t really do Kotori any long term good when he made her forget how their mother died. It keeps a girl from learning to cope with seeing bodies ripped apart. Just in case it happens again. Since this is Clamp, you can usually count on a few of those.
The sequences of Kotori in the dream world are probably some of Clamp’s most gorgeous pages so far in this series, even if a few were odd. The mermaid bit in particular seemed rather out there, not to mention the bits with Kotori turning into shattered glass.
I was hoping Kotori would turn sane again before getting killed, but that wasn’t to be. The sequence where Kamui makes his choice and Fuma’s fate is sealed as “evil” is, I think, the first time with X/1999 and Tokyo Babylon that I’ve regretted seeing the anime before reading the manga. I can only imagine how the manga version of Fuma attacking Kamui and Kotori comes across if you aren’t waiting for it to happen.
And their mothers were in love but Saya married Fuma and Kotori’s father anyway to be close to the shrine? Is this some sort of theme of Clamp’s? At least she seems to have appreciated him.
And Subaru and Seishiro meet! But Subaru says he doesn’t care about the future of the Earth? Points lost. I liked Sorata and Arashi seeing their fight, but would like them to get to do more. (They’re my favorites. I’m biased.)
And did Kamui really say that the sword was crying? And is that school really officially called Clamp School?
(And Aoki is Saiki’s uncle. That is cute and was not in the anime, that I recall.)

I believe it was. So was the bit about Subaru not caring about the future of the earth.
And yes, I love those dreamscapes, there's some gorgeous stuff there
I also love when Kotori is crazy. Saya as a mermaid is one of those imagery that's totally random yet somehow very compelling, especially given how little explanation we have on the character. And, Tohru's Kamui's mother, it's Saya who married Fuuma and Kotori's father.no subject
*goes to fix name because she's terrible with names*
ETA: And there was definitely something compelling with crazy!Kotori, I just wanted her to die with her mind the way it should be. Though I think the manga isn't quite through with her yet.

Or perhaps I'm biased. I adore both Karen and Aoki.

I don't know, I'm still not sure what is the issue with that sword, and yes. You have to read Duklyon and CLAMP Campus Detectives, that school appears a lot in CLAMP's series. XD

I should really reread X. I just wish Viz's version were more enjoyable to read. :/
