Bleach question

After lunch with Mom today, I stopped by Waldenbooks  (Which is closing!  Leaving me only with Hastings for local books!  They have horrible customer service!  They act annoyed and bitter if you ask a question and are put out if you order a book!  Woes!) and ended up talking to a couple people in the manga section.  As one does.  (Technically, I was beside the manga section looking at SFF, having already checked for the few manga I was looking for.)

Anyway, I'm a couple months behind on Bleach scans (I'll catch up when it sounds like the current arc ends or comes to a new stage) but they started either spewing out spoilers or seeing what I'd buy in to.  Either way, I'm vaguely irritated-though much less worried about Bleach spoilers than other series-but curious as to whether or not it's true.

So, according to them, Isshin is Shinigami royalty, and Mama Kurosaki (name escapes me ATM) was a quincy.

True?  False?  What?.

To my knowledge, no. Isshin was a Shinigami with a power level more or less akin of a captain, but to my knowledge he wasn't exactly royalty. And Masaki (Ichigo's mama) was a normal human.

Using Orihime icon, orz. <3

Yeah, kind of what I thought. I've actually met one of those guys once or twice, though it was years ago (I highly doubt he remembers me at all), and the mutual friend warned me that he liked doing things like that to people.

Rofl. Mama Kurosaki (Maskaki...which means that her name rhymes!) was not...a quincy =______=x
But Isshin was a Shinigami.

However...I wouldn't get back into Bleach until the current arcwhich has been going on for fucking 97865413289465 yearsis over.

I'm not not into Bleach anymore so much as I'm not a fan of scans.

Bleach has...suffered in quality lately. I'd keep my ear perked for when Bleach gets back into Bleach, because Kubo can write a story like no other.

My Waldenbooks closed last year. D: I was really sad too because I liked it much more than its parent company. But I got a ton of books for 75% off so at least that was a good memory. They were practically throwing them at me as I walked out the door.

Yeah, I foresee many visits throughout the month as I see how cheap the books will get.

I used to live near a Waldenbooks, and when it closed I wandered in. Between a birthday coupon, some sort of other coupon, and the closing sale I got $150 worth of books for $40. Woo!

*applause*

I think I managed nearly the same thing by showing up the day before it closed. I remember I had a stack of books as high as my head lol.

I went in having figured out that the $4.99 edition of Mistborn was a Borders exclusive, and left with that and the second of Michelle Sagara's Elantra books for I think $9.30.

I was late to work at my indie bookstore once so I could pounce on a Waldenbooks closing sale!

Though that means there's no bookstore in that mall now / no way to entertain myself there anymore, bah.

Is the entire Waldenbooks chain closing? If so, that's very sad. *remembers back to the many hours of her childhood spent in Waldenbooks*

As far as I know, it's just this store.

Borders is having a sucky time overall; I think they're gradually closing their Waldenbooks chains so they can focus on the huger Borders we're-huge-and-have-everything-so-please-don't-go-to-Amazon-pleeeease superstores. Meanwhile, B&N looks inscrutable in polished wood, and the indies struggle gamely on!

Well I'm pretty up to date and basically Isshin is a shinigami who lost his powers. It's implied that he was a Captain or Captain level cause of the piece of Captain's haori.

I hate people who make up spoilers like that! It's even more annoying than real spoilers :(

Uh, the current arc is all fighting, all the time. There have been no new revelations of anybody's past since the extended flashback ended (which didn't feature Isshin at all anyway).

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was pretty sure he was making it up then, but still. (It would have been incentive to catch up.)

I was a bit miffed at no Isshin in the flashback arc.

I've been reading it weekly because I translate it, but if I weren't, I definitely would hold off for a while. Battles are better read in large chunks, as otherwise it seems like nothing happens, and this has really just been battle after battle after battle as there are like five million going on at once so it just switches between them.

I loved the flashback arc and would have been happy to have it go on a lot longer. I guess Isshin was already gone from Soul Society by then, maybe. Otherwise you'd think there would have at least been a mention or glimpse of him. I hope there will be more reveals about the past after the endless battle finally ends.

I was so sad when our WaldenBooks closed :( But, I was even sadder when I moved away from the places that had Hastings! Weird that you had a bad experience there, I grew up adoring Hastings and loving them way more than other bigger-box stores.
The one in Flagstaff was always awesome, and when my bf worked there we got waaaaaaay too much stuff with his employee discount :P
