Alas and woes, Cindy Pon's Silver Phoenix (and it's sequel) is getting a whitewashed cover.  The new covers are attractive, but generic.  And "passive women with half a head" and so SIGH.  inkstone  has a linkspam with pertinent posts (including another of her own, with all the covers).

Since the original cover of Silver Phoenix always made me think of Liu Yi Fei, have a couple pics of her from the 2006 Return of the Condor Heroes.

Speaking of whitewashing, everyone on the internet is gleefully reporting the the Last Airbender movie is getting nothing but overwhelmingly negative reviews.  I feel linking would be redundant?

But here's a very good piece on the history of Hollywood and facepainting.  I particularly recommend reading the portions including Prince of Persia and Fullmetal Alchemist for some varied perspective on different things and reactions.
