June comics, part 3
New Warriors #1: Hmm...I'm honestly not quite sure what to think of this one. While I like it as a book, I'm not sure I like it as New Warriors. We have 2 confirmed depowered mutants here, 1 more in issue 2, and given the identity of that one, suspicions about a 4th one are essentially confirmed. It reads more like Ex-Mutants than New Warriors(not only that, but the conversation on the computer screen-which I've decided was Wondra and not Night Thrasher) made it sound like ex-mutants was the bulk of the recruitment pool. I'd be saying it was absolutely perfect if it was calling itself Generation X or something like that, but not as New Warriors. I also can't help but think that the wrong character was chosen as the "voice" character. I like Sofia, but she's not really a chief narrative character, and she's acting more like a less-spunky Jubilee than the Sofia I'm used to.
Jack of Fables #11: Jack has a spawn. I'd have more pertinent things to say about the events of the book itself, but my brain is frozen in that spot.
Shadowpact #14: Giant...crotchless...fire demon...guy...thing...clearly, Bill Willingham wanted to fry the brains of his readers in June...I rather like the Blue Demon plot, and I love it when they bring lawyers and real law and apply it to syperheroics. Quite the misleading cover, though.

Not quite apropos of anything you actually say here, but this is your most recent post mentioning Fables ... oyceter has some interesting things to say about a recent issue of that here.

Some very good points, actually, though a fair chunk of what she mentioned didn't bother me it was made clear the arabian fables had been very isolated and cut off from everyone else, and as a result, they still had an ancient mindset instead of being like the rest who adjusted their mindsets with the time. I actually thought most of the westernized foreigners (except the one who actually spoke arabic) were made to look incompetent, but I guess that depends on your personal perception.
