Via [livejournal.com profile] calixa , 28 Reasons That Twilight The Movie Is Better Than Twilight The Book.

The excerpt used for #21?  A piece of my self-respect shriveled up and died just reading that.

That actually almost makes the movie sound awesome. Especially that bit with "food... sex... sex... cat..." I laughed. And they cut some of the worst offending lines?

Why do we get lion/lamb but not dazzle you? ;_;

[identity profile] kitsune714.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The whooshing sound the vampires make may be just enough reason to go see this movie.

WHOOSH!

I will never understand why these books are popular.

Never, ever.

I'd be the one thinking "cat."

Because... there's a hitherto unsuspected incandescent chest kink among the world's teenage girls?

I have no idea either.

[identity profile] tricianna.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seriously got to see this movie now.

And possibly by lynched by crazy teenage girls while I laugh hysterically, but them's the risks.

It is wish fulfillment fantasy at its finest. It satisfies a kink that a lot of young girls have. Finding an incredibly handsome and beautiful guy who is head over heels for them and tortures himself over it.

I think the books are trash, but I can see how it would have the appeal to a lot of people.

I think the movie is most likely bad, yet I still think it will be more enjoyable then the books.

My biggest fear is that the movie is simply mediocre and has no entertaining value whatsoever.

That actually almost makes the movie sound awesome.

DO NOT BE FOOLED.

Oh, hilarity!

What is this? It's like he's posing with a cardboard display at an Outdoor World shop or something. I have seen some craptastic stills from the film, but this is amazing! Hahaha!

(I have read 3 of the books and even though they suck I can't stop please don't shun me)

[identity profile] shadawyn.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I think a lot of the images are photoshopped due to lack of fitting stills from the movie that eloquently illustrate the point of humor :)

(I've read two of the books and have the third, and think they are awful, but they are trainwreck awful. I can't stop reading, even know I know they are awful.)

[identity profile] rhap-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh believe me, I'm not. I DO think the movie is going to be all kinds of epic and sort of awesome, but mostly for the reasons in that article and the fact that (1) RPattz hated his character and played him as an angry OCD virgin who hates himself and (2) KStew played Bella with the perfect blank, boring, pissed-off vapid expression, with little emotion. *I judge here from the trailers.* Therefore, the characters will be just as I think of them in my head-- really, really screwed up.

Thank you, general casting.

[identity profile] geckophobe.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you mean photoshopped for the article... How bad is it that my expectations of the film are so low I thought this was an actual film still, representative of the quality of the movie as a whole?

(I wonder what percentage of the readers are as ashamed as I am, versus the diehard fans and the unapologetic mockers?)

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I think this movie cries out for a 'bad movie night' treatment once it comes to DVD. Preferably with lots of alcohol and a roomful of LJ snarkers.

I, uh, caught a midnight showing of the flick last night/this morning (she's blogging it extensively; I've mostly curled up in the fetal position). It is GAWDAWFUL. Take a friend; having someone to mouth "WHAT THE FUCK?" at is the only thing that got me through.

RPattz does indeed manage to get an amazing number of pained expressions into the movie.

[identity profile] magicnoire.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Ann, if you think books 1-3 are trainwreck awful, you have no idea what you're in store for in book 4. NO IDEA.

[identity profile] magicnoire.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that this in any way makes me want to watch the movie (I read the books, is that not enough?!) but the actor they cast as Laurent is smoking hot.

[identity profile] tricianna.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I wholeheartedly agree with this idea, esp. the bit about the alcohol :P

[identity profile] rhap-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Here's what I said to my friend about seeing it: "I do want to see it. I want to see it with people like you and Tat and I want to recaption everything Edward says so it is more hilarious. I want to laugh every time Edward has a weird hair moment. I want to piss off stupid teenagers in the theater and get thrown out for giggling at Edward's stupid sparkle.

That's why I'm staying home."

I will see it eventually under these circumstances and it will be awesome.

[identity profile] bzoppa.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too!

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait..."Do I dazzle you?" is actually a legitimate line from the book? I...I thought it was a fandom thing...

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I like the streaks.

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a theory that people are drawn to bad fiction because it's easier to warp it into what they want, but the more solid the source is, the more they have to work at it.

[identity profile] rhap-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, seriously! This is a quote from the book:

"You really shouldn't do that to people," I criticized. "It's hardly fair."

"Do what?"

"Dazzle them like that - She's probably hyperventilating in the kitchen right now."

He seemed confused.

"Oh, come on," I said dubiously." You have to know the effect you have on people."

He tilted his head to one side, his eyes were curious. " I dazzle people?"

"You haven't noticed? Do you think everybody gets their way so easily?"
He ignored my questions. " Do I dazzle you?"

"Frequently," I admitted.

But there are so many better examples of this...
