My stomach's been having a dull ache for the last couple of days...I've come to the conclusion that I'm probably eating slightly less, while doing a bit more work, physically, because of the stairs. Probably means there was always a lot to munch on at the house...
Aside from learning that I have a neighbor who likes to yell during football games, it's been rather quiet. Still have a lot of boxes to unpack.
As I type this, people are carting things out of the U-Haul truck and into the apartment next to mine
Books for the week:
The Complete Jon Sable: Freelance Vol 1
Tom Strong Book 4
(still waiting for the shipment of comics to get here)
Watched This Week:
Adventures of Robin Hood
Earthsea
Formula 51
Horatio Hornblower: The Duel
Iron Monkey
Kingdom of Heaven
Merchant of Venice
Ong-Bak, the Thai Warrior
Tarzan: Special Edition
Robin Hood, Tarzan, and Kingdom of Heaven were all rewatches while I was unpacking, and all were as good as they usually are. Earthsea, while a rather poor adaptation of a fantasy series, was very good purely on its own. Formula 51 was very entertaining, though it would have only been about half as long if you took out the cussing. Horatio Hornblower started rather slowly, but the second half was a very entertaining naval adventure. Much more so than Master and Commander, which I never got around to finishing. Iron Monkey was pure fun and a very refreshing change from the melodrama and symbolism of all the "big" martial arts movies to come out of China the last few years. Merchant of Venice is a Shakespeare play that I've heard a lot about, but never actually seen or read. Also slow at first, but Portia at the trial and after more than makes up for it. And, it has Jeremy Irons. Ong-Bak was basically the cheapest production they could get to showcase Tony Jaa, but was entertaining, despite horrid lighting.
Read this week:
Legend Of Grimjack Vol 4: Yeah, sure, go ahead and kill off my favorite supporting character. I notice all the other supporting characters you killed off got fixed pretty quickly...
Rurouni Kenshin Vol 17-20: The Kyoto arc finally comes to an end. Good story, but it's lasted about half the series now...
Superman Batman Vol 3 Absolute Power: Jeph Loebs basically having fun with alternate realities here. But I can see now why some were up in arms at the violence level. I liked Diana's Donna Troy-like outfit, but Donna should wear it, not Diana.
Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol 4: Inhuman: NNNNooooo...Mr. Ellis, come back. This was such a fun title in your hands! Don't leave it in the hands of a guy who thinks shock value erases boredom, and who thinks that making characters the antithesis of the original characters is a bold new interpretaion of them. COME BACK! I'll even be nice to Greg Land if you come back...
