Of Swords and Parasols

Ah, yes. This volume is where we start wandering around in Endless Shounen Action territory for a bit. Though certainl nowhere near the levels of things like Naruto, Bleach, or Samurai Deeper Kyo. It also has one of my favorite little scenes.

Almost couldn't get all that into the title line...










 

This volume is kind of a slow one for me. Mostly, it’s the Noah being the Noah, and Allen having a Shounen Power-Up.

I’m sure I’m in the minority with the fandom (Looked. Saw Lenalee bashing. Left except to watch for new chapters and icons.) but I don’t care much for the Noah. Tyki and Road are ok, but beyond that, they pretty much annoy me. Aside from Jasdev’s obsession with Cross, I could do without them unless the exorcists are directly involved. Especially the Earl’s little hearts. Sorry, but the hearts at the end of every sentence for some characters is one of the more annoying things I’ve come across in manga.



 

My mangas continue to be Highly Exploitive and use kiddie versions of characters to make my supposedly-jaded heart squee. Akimine Kamijyo seems to continue her tradition of making how much I like her male leads at least somewhat dependent on her female leads.

For anyone who follows D.Gray-man in scans:  Is it just me, or is the art becoming rougher and rougher in recent chapters?  I swear, some of the panels in this week's chapter looked more like rough sketches  than anything else.  There was one thing of Kanda that looked more like a black blob than anything else.

What gives?  The art started not-so-great for me, got pretty good, and now it seems to be regressing. 

Also, Kanda and Allen need to be kept in separate rooms or something.  I swear, they act like two year olds if you put them in the same room.

 I am trying to get through my immediate backlog of scanslations and other things, hence, spam.  But I thought two things were deserving of being posted.

1)  Bleach may be in an endless storyline that occassionally makes me grit my teeth, but certain things make it worthwhile.  Like this.


2)  This scene goes a long way to explaining why Lenalee can bash Kanda over the head with a clipboard and barely even get growled at for it.
