Far too many spaceships died! I have become fond of them! Though I fear Farscape rather ruined me for other spaceships.
But! Sometimes, I wouldn’t mind being wrong about some of these things? Alas, poor Scruffy. You were so pretty in your angst and drive. I shall miss your willingness to fanboy everything and use your ability to annoy to get what you want. I will even miss Jason Carter’s overdeliver at least half his lines. Possibly, I will miss him almost as much as I miss Talia and Na’Toth.
Sadly, after this and Talia, poor Ivanova is probably going to swear off anything vaguely resembling romance altogether. And, err, I know she isn’t in the next season, and so do not have as much drive to watch it? Which doesn’t mean that season 5 isn’t still at the top of my Netflix queue.
Actually, I’m kind of concerned about there being a 5th season? It seems kind of gratuitous, and the last two seasons of Buffy made me wary of series that continue past what seems to be their natural end.
I’m glad to report that, like Franklin, my feelings for Garibaldi snapped right back to love as soon as he went back to normal. I was seriously hating on him for a while there (especially when he was acting like some sort of angsty noir hero), and wanting Lise to dump his sorry self and go hang out underground with Number One. Of course, they beat him up, stabbed him, and had arguments over who got to shoot him his first episode after all that, so maybe the writers realized how annoying he got to be. And he’s lucky Ivanova wasn’t there for all that. He only thinks Number One was mad at him. (Also, I may have developed a crush on Lyta when she grabbed the gun and started shooting all over the place and then went all black eyes on Number One there.)
I think I hate Bester even more for forcing Lyta to rejoin PsiCorps than I do for his apparent joy at Talia’s death or what he did to Garibaldi. The Talia thing was just being a jerk and taking advantage of a (presumably) existing situation to rile people, and while what he did to Garibaldi is far worse, there was a purpose to it. With Lyta, that was just cruelty. And…Bester is fun as a creepily snide and snarky mostly-villain who can be useful, but mostly irritating when he’s being all tragic and in more of the ruthless savior mode.
Londo and G’Kar getting along is weird. Just weird.
And while I’m not particularly into Delenn/Sheridan, I’m rather fond of their plotline, especially the twistedness of the Minbari who cast the vote to go to war hooking up with the only human to ever beat a Minbari warship. Though, I think most of the appeal is that they don’t waste any time angsting over how their love is Wrong and Forbidden, and instead had largely dealt with it before they even met and are pretty much “screw you” to people who try to make a big deal of it. But it…their marriage seems like it’s where the story that we see should end? It and the things they’ve kicked off seem to be the natural conclusion.
Also, the last episode of the season? Fanfic. Weird fanfic. That didn’t make a lot of sense. I wonder if the writers realized that, and just went “OK! Use a Vorlon! I can’t think of anything else!”
Hmm...why don't I have any icons of Delenn, Ivanova or Lyta?
