The Wishlist Meme/Rules:<
Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for __ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
* If you wish for real life things (not stories or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
*Surf around your friends list (or friends’ friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list.
And now here's the important part:
*If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.
* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.
* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wish List
This is mostly recs. Almost all, really. While physical things are totally welcome, so are things I can Netflix/acquire cheaply. (If I must acquire it illicitly, provide a direct link?) I’ve asked for many/most of these before, but repetition never hurts.
1. Bollywood! And South Indian films, my viewing of which is still limited to Magadheera.
2. Magic Flute! Adaptations and recordings of productions aren’t exactly hard to come by (I think there‘s one set during the French Revolution coming up soon in my queue), but are there any books? (Or fic. Particularly the Queen, Pamina, Queen and Pamina, or Queen/Sarastro.)
3. Asian dramas! I remain terribly out of date here, and am barely even aware of what jdramas have aired in the last couple years, or what new wuxias are out. (People post on kdramas enough for me to keep up with them.)
4. Silent movies! For years my main exposure to silents was comedies, which tends to be phycal comedy of the violence/humiliation kind, which I don’t care for, or the swashbucklers which, for some reason, don’t really work for me. But I recently watched The Mysterious Lady and liked it. I’m a blank slate on this one.
5. Any book/manga you think I might like but haven’t read yet.
6. Icons! I mostly make my own, but not all! I could, for example, do with Gargoyles icons (particularly Elisa, Fox and Demona), Emperor of the Sea (Anything!), Mad Men (Joan, Betty, Peggy, Trudy), Sir Athur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World (Marguerite, Veronica/ Marguerite/Roxton, Marguerite/Veronica), Xena and Hercules (Ephiny, Aphrodite, Morrigan, Nebula, Callisto), Babylon 5 (Delenn, Ivanova, Talia, Lyta) or Marple/Miss Marple (Hickson, McEwan or McKenzie versions all good).
Rec things even if you think you've recced them in the past! They probably linger somewhere in my backlog/queue, and re-reccing can serve as a reminder.
