When Elijah was explaining Klaus's origins/the greatest threat ever as Klaus being the superwerevamp because their mother had an affair with a werewolf, and then the vampire/werewolf war was caused by their father massacre-ing Klaus's biological father's family.
Elijah himself seemed to place more blame on his father's reaction (Though there was a detachment...Gillies did a really good job of conveying that Elijah still remembers and feels the emotional attachments from his past, but also that it's been so long and there's been so much that it's all the past and there's an emotional detachment for him when it comes to things not in the here and now. Dobrev and Katherine and Kelly Hu also manage that detached connection to the world, but not quite as effectively. But then, Katherine and Peral are both centuries younger than Elijah.) but the narrative itself seemed to be going "Gosh, if she just hadn't had that affair..."
