anime: X: the movie

Until the last few weeks, X: The Series was the sole exception to my no-Clamp rule of the last few years.  I could not help it...it was so pretty and there were swords.  Supposedly, it's all about the Dragons of Heaven and the Dragons of Earth battling over Earth's destiny and Doomed Love and best friends made enemies, but really, it's all about the pretty imagery and the amazingly glorious, melodramatic emo angst.  The kind you can't help but get caught up in (at least while you watch) even if you normally don't care about such things.

The movie, imo, didn't really deliver on any level to the same degree as the series (except body count, where it surpasses the series) but I enjoyed it.  Aside from "WHY WAS THERE SO LITTLE SORATA/ARASHI????" I have little to say, so I bring many, amazingly spoilery pics of X(basically a recap...) and the angst.

Not one to waste time, the movie delves straight into the angst with the death of Kamui's mother.

 

Kamui is in shock of the manner:



Which is pulling the Sword of Heaven out of her stomach and bursting into flames:





Kamui obligingly angsts:



And Kotori has a pretty and prophetic dream:















The sister priestesses of Heaven and Earth.  They are color coded so we know who's good and who's evil.  Naturally, the good one annoys me and the evil one is cool.



SORAAAATTTTAAAAA!!!!!



And Arashi, of course:



And SUBARU!  Why movie, whywhywhy did you kill Subaru 10 minutes in?  *still sad*



And extra-complex ridden Fuma, of course:



Kamui likes to wear a Dracula cloak:



Obsession A: Kamui to Kotori.



Obsession B: Fuma to Kotori



Obsession C:  Kamui to Fuma.  Obsession D is the reverse.



It's all very OT3-ish.





Of course, my favorite is Sorata and Arashi:



Baddies attack and Kotori gets sucked into...something.



Causing Fuma to dutifully jump in after:



Only to have Evil Priestess show up and tell him his destiny:



Which involves Kamui and swords and black clothing, of course:



Kotori kinda floats in limbo during this:



Kamui meets the Good Priestess and rather object to the whole "playing God with lives" thing and destiny drivel.



So she gives him a nasty vision:









Later, he learns why you don't go in your girlfriend's bedroom uninvited:



Kotori still floats in limbo:



A Dragon of Earth tries to prove how cool he is:



Meanwhile, Sorata and Arashi face off with Evil!Fuma:





Don't mess with her:







Meanwhile, Kamui practices his angsting with Uzuria:



Evil!Fuma tells him he's evil now.



Then goes off to fetch Kotori, who's still floating in limbo:



So that he can contribute even more to Kamui and his angst:









Now the angt practicing will pay off for Kamui:





Evil!Fuma decides to kill his people while Kamui is distracted:





Kamui is till angsting when he finishes:



So he decides to kill Sorata and Arashi:





Sadly, they only get to do real OTP-ing while dying:

Good Priestes mention he may want to get around to saving the world sometime soon:



Kamui says ok, but he's taking Kotori with him:



Evil!Fuma can't believe he's snapped out of it:

We end, of course, with Kamui angsting:
