random odds and ends

Just got back from the booksale. 2 boxes and 1 bag, but very few of the titles I was specifically looking for. Paid $30. Was really tempted to leave less because of one of the ladies there. Her comment was something along these lines:

"Now, are you keeping count? I don't want you taking all these and only paying $5" with a tone of voice that clearly said "You're young, so of course you're going to try to rip us off so I'll just set you straight right now."

Laura was there again too with her boyfriend's aunt. Speaking of David(her BF) he's dying to go see Yu Gi Oh and wants 4 people togo so he can get all 4 free cards. Guess who they've chosen to be their 4th person? They've also decided that they need to set me up with their friend, Cory(guess who ELSE is going...)

As an aside, Laura and I haven't actually seen each other all summer, and se mentioned that the first thing she noticed yesterday was that I'd lost weight(I didn't have the heart to tell her that I haven't really been trying...)

Have read all of my assigned reading for the week. This is the first time in a long time that I've actually READ all the books I planned to read at the beginning of the week, so I'll be doing that again... Will be posting this weeks full acquired/read list either later today or tomorrow.

Oh, andthey didn't let me go through the unpacked boxes(looks sad.)

Random Musings:

Armageddon 2001 #1-2: I want my time back. Now. (and it started so well, too...)

Artesia TPB: Quite good, worththe praise I heard. But I had to keep checking to make sure I really was reading the first book and not the second.

AVENGERS: UNDER SIEGE TPB: Bought it for the TBolts connection, but it was quite good on its own. PURPLE PUSS!!!

Crescent Moon v2: NO! You killed my fa--oh, he's all better now. Never mind.

Full Metal Panic v1-2: TeeHeeHee. Too many giant robots in vol 2, though. But we're back to school in #3.

Fruits Basket v1: Actually only halfway through this one right now. Recommended by the same friend who got me reading Demon Diary and Hana Kimi.

GREEN ARROW: THE LONGBOW HUNTERS TPB: ooooooo...good. Too bad Grell later had to destroy his Green Arrow goodness by making Ollie a worthless cheat.

Hana Kimi v1-3: This is a book that I looked at and completely dismissed when it came out, but a friend from school recommended it. Now I'm sad thatt here are only 3 volumes out so far. And since it's Viz, there's no telling when future volumes will be out.

NIGHTWING #95: Can we please stop trying to portray the unrepentant rapist as a love interest for her victim? Thanks. HEY! Maybe she and Huntress will meet up in war games and Helena will pulverize her for being a cheap rip off.
