The skinny:  Starts slow, evolves into much awesomeness.  Sam is cool when not in ultrafocused mopey vengeful mode(which always needs a smack) My love of Dean threats my love of Dark Angel's Alec, my greatest TV love(also played by Jensen Ackles...)  Evil ending that will result in my being bad a DLing the premiere this weekend at the parents(and then deleting it...) if I can.

The first 6-7 episodes were really only "ok"...interesting premise, well told, and Jensen Ackles, all of which would have kept me watching, but casually.  Then it takes off bigtime, especially with "Home."

Basic concept, for those who don't know is that that all those urban legends...Bloody Mary(mumblemumblewholethingisMaryTudor'sreligiouscrusadebutI'llletitslide* the man with the hook who attacks kids making out in their cars, monster in the lake, etc., all really exist, and so do people who hunt them, specifically, a rather disfunctional family named the Winchesters.

"Disfunctional" is putting it nicely...Dad has been hunting Mom's killer for 22 years, older brother Dean is completely clueless about how to function in normal society...he's so conditioned to the necessity of lying in his line of work that he doesn't even know HOW to tell the truth, and baby brother Sam got out, went to school, went on a quickie trip with Dean and came home to find his girlfriend pinned to the ceiling, and then watched her burst into flames moments later.

Such a healthy, healthy family....

The shows always stops just short of horror(fortunately) and has plenty of humor.  And Jensen Ackles.  Yes, I tend to get blind to such things at time.  In fact, I'm having to control myself from writing a huge drabble about ean, because...uhm...y'know...I'd get embarassed.  But, even not knowing my love of DA's Alec, anyone who's seen this who thought I WOULDN'T end up in love with Dean justdoesn't know me...
