KENSHIN! AOSHI! STOP KILLING THE POOR HELPLESS BOOKS! (just to give those who have seen RK an idea of where I am now)

Booksale was, at best, disappointing.  New place, hard to find, sucky parking.  They're using about 1/3 of the space available to them, meaning about 50% of what they had, they didn't have out. That incidentally, is almost all of the romances, and that sale each year is my main supply of Regencies.  You can buy the boxes sight unseen, but they won't let you check the tops so you can at least have an idea of what's in them.  I was there about 40 minutes(as opposed to my usual 2+ hours) and, including myself, about 4 people asked if they could at least look at the top...were told no, so no boxes left.  That's one thing, but the lady saying no was really smug about it, like "You're buying romance novels, so it's all trash anyway.  Besides, you aren't a REAL reader anyway..."  I usually go every day of the sale, but I'm actually considering not going back this year.  This, incidentally, is a major thing for me.

Had lunch with parents.  Dad had a LOT of onions on his hotdog...I was sitting across the table and my eyes were watering...odd, as I used to be able to chop onions and be fine for the longest time.

Didn't go to the booksale today.  Think I'll check in tomorrow, when they'll be really wanting to get rid of things because they need the space.

Damon(Orlando Bloom look-alike manager of Waldenbooks) came back from a managers' meeting and today was his first day back...was loaded down with a few bags of books that he's letting customers peek at...snagged one...paranormal romance...story sounds promising but the descriptions give me slight concern about certain elements being given a little more emphasis than I like.  We'll see.

Speaking of Waldenbooks, these past couple of weeks, they've finally got in some good new manga.  I think it's been about a month since I posted about manga here...I've read probably 40 manga in that time, but most of them had "why did I want to check this out?" "Why did I like this series?" "The magic's gone...what wrong with this mangaka?" reactions.  Have about twelve that ended up on the keeper shelf...will post about them today or tomorrow, once I finish the second Buso Renkin.

Also watched more Kenshin.

And back to watching.

Well, like I said in the last post, manga reading took a downturn recently, but is picking up with new stuff.  Got some favorites mixed in here, and some others that I picked up the last few days.  I have waiting the newest books of Inu Yasha, Hana Kimi, Threads of Time, and Her Majesty's Dog, and snagged the first volumes of books that look promising...Tail of the Moon and Night of the Beasts.  Also got the first Rurouni Kenshin Novel, as Well as Scrapped Princess and Kino no Tabi...incidentally, Kenshin has a nice cover, but Tokyopop's packaging for the YA novel line is horrid.  They aren't overly attractive, and I'm glad I special ordered them, as I'm not sure I would have spotted them if I'd just been looking for them on the shelf...they don't stand out well.

Anyway...

Meanwhile, I've decided that since I'll have Kenshin finished pretty soon, I'm allowed to get another anime.  Now to decide which...
