now that is one messed up revenge...

As mentioned earlier, I'm watching Kindaichi Shonen no Jikembo III, a straight mystery series (that, until the other dorama mystery series I've seen-Trick, Kurosagi, Fugoh Keiji, Remote, etc.-actually is a straightout mystery series, as opposed to using the mysteries as window dressing) starring a rather young and endearingly dorky Matsujun.

I'll do a proper writeup when I finish(I just finished ep 5 of 9) but for now, I'm rather impressed by how messed up the conclusion to the mystery in eps 4-5 is.

( I suppose there are more screwy and messed up ways to carry out a 25 year revenge, but yeesh... )

• Apparently they're making a sequel to The Thomas Crowne Affair called The Topkapi Affair.  No details yet beyond Brosnan as Crowne.  Not sure how I feel about. TTCA was a pretty complete story, and a large part of what made it good was Rene Russo, who isn't listed for TTA (yet, hopefully.)  With a good screenwriter and bringing Russo back, it could be good, but it's not really a movie I ever pictured having a sequel.
• I'm reading one of the Dark Hunters books, Unleash the Night, and in this book and the last one, Sins of the Night, the writing seems to have improved.  Still far from Mary Sue-free or high quality, and still rather emo, though.  I also have something of a thing for characters like Wren, even with the emo.  I kinda miss the pure cheese and camp of the earlier books, though...
• Being stingy w/ LJ posts and almost all IM-ing buddies going to bed early leads to my plaving Amazon orders before the last order has even arrived...
• Poking around fanfiction.net yesterday reminded me of 2 things: 1)  Most Wolf's Rain fans seem to have completely missed the plot and entire point of the thing and seem rather clueless about Kiba and Darcia's personalities and motivations (I saw one where a young-pre sick-Hamana-Darcia  had captured and tortured a younger Kiba...) and 2)  Most Wolf's Rain fans seem to be obsessed with the idea of a "special" female wolf join the pack who's crucial to finding paradise.  Said she-wolf seems to  get paired off with Kiba most of the time, of course...

ETA:  Talking about the WR part of the post with kingcrankycat reminds me of all the ficwriters who seem to think that Kiba can't stand Cheza...I guess treating a girl like your personal goddess is proof of disgust.  There's a fanfic of things Kiba would hate the most and being locked in a room with Cheza ranked high...hard to think of anything that would make him happier than alone time wit Cheza...

The boys are watching the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...it looks decent enough, but Casey just showed up all I could do is go "You are no Elias Koteas...I SHALL ACCEPT NO CASEY SUBSTITUTES!!!!!"

But beyond that...ehm...I may sit down and watch it properly some time.
