Random Stargate bits

Having just watched the first 3 eps of Season 6:

*So, after two seasons of pretty much forgetting Teal'c was married(making the whole "lost love/vengeance quest" with the priestess chick kinda annoying, really) the show suddenly remembers...just to kill her off. *shakes fist*  Not that I cared for her except for when she was played by Salli Richardson, but...

*But the bit where he was letting Rya'c beat the *hem* out of him because Rya'c blamed  him for her death, though, was most excellent.  Not only is Teal'c stoic and manly when crying, but he's also stoic and manly when getting beat up by a teenager.

*I think I like Rya'c.  He's doing his best to be a stoic and manly Jaffa, but has a long way to go.  But it's ok, Bra'tak, the most supreme thing ever, will whip him into shape.  Just like he did Teal'c.  Come to think of it, all the good Jaffa had Bra'tak teach them to be stoic manly men.  Teal'c is his best creation, of course.

*Did Stargate give me ninja Jaffa?  Seriously?  I love you Stargate.  Now give me more and let them do more.

*I think I love Jonas.  A lot.  He is darling.  And seems to be amazingly unaware of how brilliant he is.  And he can outthink McCay without realizing it.  He's going to stop being quite so cute if he keeps eating like that though.  And his talks with Teal'c are almost the best thing ever.  (BOND WITH HIM, TEAL'C!  HE'S TOO PUPPY-LIKE NOT TO!!)

*I think I love McCay too.  But in the "you're an idiot in the non-intellectual ways and a jerk, but I can't help but like you" way(as opposed to the "you're a darling and I want to keep you forever" way with Jonas.)  His crush on Carter is both appalling in its expression and oddly endearing.  Not that he deserves her, of course.  No one does.

*Except maybe o'Neill, and that's only because he effectively worships her brain. As he should, given how often it saves worlds.

*I have already been given 2 episodes of Bra'tac and one of Papa Carter...should I get used to the joy, or am I being spoiled now only to be deprevied for the rest of the season?

*One day, Papa Carter is going to decide he's tired of o'Neill also getting Carter in trouble and zap him to an uninhabited planet.  Seriously.

*I do kinda miss Daniel, though.  I mean, sure, he annoyed me with his smugness, but I liked him.  Why can't we have Daniel AND Jonas?

And for the latest Fullmetal Alchemist "WTF?" pairing...

Havoc/Greed.

...

I think Mustang/Envy has been topped.

I didn't think anythingcould ever top Mustang/Envy...

2007 in review: manga

I’m only covering the new-to-me-this-year(unless I only read Vol 1 last year) titles because...well...that’s 57 titles and almost 140 volumes. As I mentioned before, it would take coming here and teaching my 11 month old nephew to say Aunt Meg, please review every single manga you read" for me to do that. Plus, unless you get me soon after I read a book, events start blending together as far as what happened what volume. I can relate the sequence of events and probably narrow it down, but to cover everything, I’d have to dig out every single book and see what happened when. That would probably keep me from doing anything else for a couple weeks. And, honestly, I don’t even have some of these anymore to check.

(Incidentally, 23 of the 57 titles are either completed or have been dropped, and it’s a fairly even split.)

Shin Angyo Onshi isn’t covered because it got too long as it is and if I included it, I’d probably end up counting up all the scanslations I’ve checked out, and then THIS POST WOULD NEVER END! But it’s excellent and very much needs to be licensed. Here’s the tag for it.

my brain is now dead and I will attempt to revive it by eating and reading Skip-Beat.  If Kyoko's insane rage does not have me laughing at work and getting strange looks, i shall be Deeply Disappointed.

They are HERE!!!

At long last, my Princess Tutu DVDs have arrived.

Granted, I am now watching Stargate, but they are here for when I finish.

Meanwhile, anyone seen Legend of Himiko or World of Narue?  Rightstuf has both dirt cheap in their Twelve Days of Christmas sale.
