*Alas, poor Jonas, he has now experienced a Doomed Love.  Probably because you can't be a member of SG-1 without having some sort of romantic angst in your past.

*I continue to love Jonas and his utterly oblivious brilliance.  Not only is he hyper-observant, but he can outthink anyone but Carter without even realize it.  No one is allowed to outthink Carter.

*In contrast, I don't think I like ascended Daniel.  He's, like, 100% superiority and smugness now.

*I do love Ba'al, though.  Do we get to keep him?  I need someone to fill the Apophis-shaped "cool villain" hole in my heart.

*The show needs to stop killing off the Tok'ra.  Seriously.  There weren't exactly that many of them to start with.

*I love how O'Neill just couldn't fathom the fact that anyone but Carter had anything to do with the rescue plan.  It's like his brain does not process the fact that any other brain exists that could complement her's.  I also love How his response to anything he doesn't understand or that frustrates or annoys him is "CARTER!!" with the utter faith that she'll make it better...which she does.  I think I ship more now that the show is leaning away from that than I didn't when it was toying with it.  I can't help it.  He's so blatantly half in love with her brain because she's 5000 times smarter than she is.  He practically worships her brain but still treats her like everyone else, instead of the disdain and annoyance he treats other "eggheads" with.

*I refuse to accept any Jaffa that was not personally trained by Bra'tac.  These other guys are just subpar.  I mean, the one apprentice of Bra'tac's who we only saw while he was dying was more impressive than these other guys.

*I will accept them if they are ninja Jaffa.  Sadly, I fear I only get the one episode of those.

*Finally, why can't we keep Jonas?

Also, the last couple hours, [personal profile] telophasehas been telling me about Bastard!!, a manga that sounds awful in all the best possible ways.  She had to compare the lead to SDK's Kyo(only not as great, of course) and at one point said "This is like SDK's slacker older brother, the one with the mullet and 3-day stubble who works in an auto shop, lives in a trailer, and drinks Budweiser."  I feel this is a ruthless exploitation of well known and highly exploitable weaknesses.  Not that I can really blame anyone but myself...

I do, however, pity the poor [profile] bish_a_dayreaders who click on the post, expecting 40+ comments on Bride of the Water God and instead get 3-5 on it and the rest on Bastard!!.

I have now sorted out my entire "My Pictures" folder into many subfolders within subfolders.  So I can find things.  I feel accomplished.

I will now go read a manga that will never in a million year be listed on my reading tally and that I absolutely will NOT admit to reading.  Ever.  Even if I post on it.

Ok, no, that's not the title.  The proper title is Bastard!!, but I'm completely NOT putting that in the entry title.  Oh, and the "!!" is absolutely NOT my addition, but is part of the title.  I kid you not

Just so we're clear...I am NOT reading this manga and I am NOT posting on it, and I am NOT spending an hour trying to decipher whether or not the manslut hero had sex with a random woman.

Bastard!! is a heavy metal obsessed Sword and Sorcery manga that loves its fanservice and its meta, and essentially exists to both revel in and mock the chauvinism of S&S.  By S&S, I am specifically referring to the old school kind where the scantily clad hero is always clutching a scantily clad woman to his massive chest with his broad arms, swinging a sword.  The kind where he has a True Love, but that doesn't stop him from slutting his way across the world, fighting swordsmen, socerers and monsters everywhere he goes, seducing the girls of enemies, female enemies, damsels in distress, and basically everything he encounters that has girly parts, only to end up at the end with the only one he hasn't slutted around with.

The plot, because there is one, involves an evil, lecherous sorcerer, Dark Schreider(DS) who tried to take over the world.  A cleric, Geo Noto Soto, sealed him inside an infant named Lucian, and raised Lucian as his son.  Lucian, now 14(but looking and acting more like 7) has a crush on GNS's daughter, Tia Noto Yoko.  When the kingdom is in danger, it's decided that the only thing that can be done is to free DS so he can fight for them, and the only way to do so is with the kiss of a virgin.  DS, of course, is more interested in killing them all(except Yoko) and taking over the world.  Except that because he shares Lucian's soul, he's A) also in love with Yoko,  B) scared of Yoko, and C)  Very, very possessive of Yoko's girly parts.

Of course, he still would have let them all die if Yoko hadn't been kidnapped.  Uhm...actually, I think it's the only thing that makes him fight bad guys.  I confess, I'm often too busy staring in shocked and horrified fascination for some of the plot to register.

In short:

*To repeat, I absolutely AM NOT reading this.
*Attempts to use this to indicate my taste or tastelessness shall be dismissed.  Because I'm not reading this.
*It has virtually no intellectual merit at all, even for a manga.
*I'm quite sure both Akimine Kamijyo and Masashi Kishimoto were fans of this growing up.
*This is possibly proof that I should not be left alone with [personal profile] telophasefor a few hours ever again.
*To repeat: AM! NOT! READING!

*YAY!  I got Papa Carter and Bra'tac in the same episode.  Except, instead of being awesome together, they were kinda quarrelling...that made me sad...

*And there was no Ba'al here.  That also made me sad.

*I can kinda see what was meant about how you could tell Anderson was getting tired of playing O'Neill.  I'm sure anyone would be, at this point.  Still love him, though.

*How awesome was Carter, mostly-foiling the whole shop tealing thing?

*Anyone else think that when the General says "Take Jonas with you" what he means is "Take the human puppy with you because they'll only be half as mad in the face of his puppiness"?  Seriously.

*THOR IS BACK! YAY!  Sadly, he brought the replicators with them.  I so knew those were replicators as soon as they showed up.  I'd say "yay, we've seen the last of them!"  except, I'm sure we haven't.  I hope the whole moral dilemma of what O'Neill did to Replicator Boy comes back to bite him in the butt.

*Uhm...the SG-1 team looked really, really good all in black on Halla(Hala?  I dunno...) with that lighting.  Just saying...

*I love Thor's way of making a bargain.

*I miss Apophis, want more Ba'al, and don't want Jonas to go away.

I will now not read more of the manga I'm not reading.  BTW, [personal profile] telophase, I ended up getting it from the place where I usually get my scans, and they only have the first 8 volumes...can you relink me to the other site?
