meganbmoore: (attack of the backlog)

1.  rightstuf.com's current sale is on all Viz products.  40% off DVDs, 33% off books, ends 10/26.

The rest of Angel Sanctuary!  You will be mine!  (Of course, they still haven't shipped the Tokyopop order I placed the first day of that sale...do they not understand my deep and intense need to read the rest of Cardcaptor Sakura?  And other things.)

This, by default, moves X/1999, Cain Saga and Special A to the top of the manga backlog.  (as usual, rec away.  Though I think I already read most of the Viz lineup that I'm interested in.)  Viz also seems devoted to publishing every manga Matsuri Hino(Vampire Knight) has ever made.  I hope they apply the same to Kaori Yuki.

2.  Today begins the annual local Booksale O' Doom.  For those who do not know, this means that books come into the apartment by the boxfulls, and then several weeks are spent sorting them out to see which may actually be read.  You see, several years ago, the workers learned how to spot the people who will fall prey to "we have to throw away whatever isn't taken," and they use that viciously, which always results in a dozen of so banana boxes full of books that I haven't even glanced through ending up here, in addition to the stuff I actually look at and choose.

3.  My DVD player seems to have died.  With Tall Cynical Boy's Heroes DVD in it.  Perhaps it objected to how the Sylar storyline kinda bores me, and the way the writers seem to have really, really loved Joyce's storyline in season 5 of Buffy?  I believe I can perform surgery to rescue the DVD, but Heroes would have been nice and easy to sort through books to...

ETA: OR! something thankfully non-breakable fell off the display case and knocked the plug loose I didn't hear that last night so I didn't know until I went to unplug it before performing surgery!

4.  The problem with a well stocked refrigerator/freezer/pantry and living alone is that you only have foods that you specifically like and no one else's preferences to take into consideration when it comes time to decide what to have for lunch.

5.  My Amazon goldbox is empty today.  Strange.  And they need to ship my order already!

So, 2 1/2 hours of crawling around to go through whatever books it was humanly possible to go through later, and my jeans are more brown than faded blue.  Was I perhaps overenthusiastic?

No idea what all I got, for the most part.  I tend to go through in a daze and grab anything that looks vaguely interesting, and then anything that's connected to that.  I did get the one Sayers that I need, and 2 of Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy (whichever 2 are named after the heroines) as well as the book that collects Patricia Wrede's 2 Regency set fantasies, though I've already read the first.  Did not find any of the other mystery writers I've been reading lately, though.  Still, I tend to go back every day of the sale.  (You will get a full report of the spoils once I have them all and have sorted through them!)

Also, I always feel weird when they seem surprised at how much I donate the first night.  I don't know if I just give a lot, or if other people give very little.
