But isn't he too pretty for the role?
Nov. 26th, 2009 08:07 pmApparently Michael Fassbender, who I absolutely adored as Thomas Rainsborough in The Devil's Whore, is going to play Rochester in an upcoming adaptation of Jane Eyre. I'm sure this will make him legions of fans and I suspect that JE fans will be happy, but I am sad thinking about the period drama he could be in that I'd want to watch. Though, I can't help but think he's a bit young and pretty to be Rochester. (I'm unfamiliar with the actress they have for Jane, though apparently she's Alice in Burton's Alice in Wonderland and has role in Amelia, both of which I want to see. She looks kinda...cute and perky.)
Though, do we really need another Jane Eyre? That has nothing to do with my opinion of the book, and everything to do with the fact that there are already a dozen or so versions of it. I mean, can't we have a "no more than one adaptation every ten years" rule or something for the classics? It's not like Bronte, Dickens and Austen are the only people to ever write books or anything.
