meganbmoore: (Lady Hyegyeong: say what?)
Sometimes, you can tell the true quality of something by how its fans choose to explain it's brilliance. Like this quote from a positive IMDB* review of Centurion:

Perhaps Olga not having to utter a word in the entire film as she portrays a Pict who had her tongue cut out was a clever way to make her character more cold and mysterious.

*Not the most reliable source, but I secretly long for something to justify watching Michael Fassbender with a sword, even if I'm guaranteed to want his character dead. Sadly, everything makes it sound worse.
meganbmoore: (ryoko's case files)
Yakushiji Ryoko is a superintendent in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, and the daughter of the head of JACES, a security organization made up of former police officers. As a result, she’s essentially allowed free reign, and her caretaker is Izumida Junichiro, a subordinate who Ryoko is in love with. (He’s clueless, despite frequently having nightmares that twist some famous romantic plot or another.) They frequently get caught up in cases that involve either the supernatural or genetic engineering, and frequently clash with Yukiko, a college rival of Ryoko’s. I believe fandom thinks they used to date. I can understand why. Ryoko isn’t afraid to use her family’s resources and connections to achieve her ends, and has a pair of non-fetishized French battlemaids.

This is one of those where I found the plot a bit on the dull side, but loved the characters. Have an MV:
