The most recent X-Men #1, that is, from volume whatever-it-is-now-this-came-out-this-week. AKA, the beginning of the whole "vampire Jubilee" business.

I am pleased to report that Jubilee does not become a vampire via rape allegory, but instead Dracula (I assume) creates a human bomb (or was it a vampire bomb?) that explodes and covers her in vampire blood. Oh, comics. Do I say "thank you" or "WTF?"

As much as I hate the idea of "Jubilee: VAMPIRE!" I have hopes that this will be resolved very, very quickly and with minimal Fail, possibly leaving her with a power boost. Also, I'm banking on Wolverine and Jubilee moments, which fueled the platonic partnership love of my teen years. Even though I'm not sure many current writers paid a lot of attention during their original adventures. But I'll hope. That said, someone at Marvel could maybe point out that if Wolverine can smell Jubilee across miles of desert or smell a letter she's sending by ferry long before the boat docks, he's probably going to notice if she's in the same building as him, bleeding?

I'm only vaguely familiar with the current state of the X-Folks, but it was pretty accessible despite my not having a clue who half the characters were. Apparently, though, there's a winged girl with two-tone hair named Megan. I think I now know why comic/X-Men fans started spelling my name right within the last couple of years. (For the non-comic folks: There is a character named Meggan in the x-books. Many people familiar with the character add the "g" without noticing.)

I am adopting a new policy: In the future, I shall immediately reject period dramas/movies about women that begin with a man's narration explaining her to to viewer, especially when the framing is used to tell us what the narrative's stance on her is from the outset.

I feel this will save me from much Fail.
