cmovie: Reign of Assassins
Jan. 16th, 2011 12:56 amEarlier today I watched Reign of the Assassins, a movie in which Michelle Yeoh plays a Ming Dynasty assassin who gets reconstructive surgery to start a new life. In case you still care about a plot after “Michelle Yeoh plays a Ming Dynasty Assassin,” the plot revolves around the gang she used to work for coming after her for something she stole from them, and her having to work with them to protect her husband.
Have the trailer:
I was a bit worried that it’d betray me for a bit in the last quarter for a bit, but it did not, and aside from one bit near the end, I really liked it. I also think it made me like Barbie Hsu more than I have in the past. Not that I’ve disliked her, I just haven’t really had an opinion in general, but her role here was very different from characters she’s played before.
Also, watching it, I realized that my biggest hangup in watching Athena is that Soo Ae and Jung Woo Sung will be wearing contemporary clothes, unlike everything else I’ve seen them in. (Ok, Lee Ji Ah, too, but I’ve only seen her in one thing before.) It’s kinda like how I keep looking at Iris and getting confused because I know Kim Tae Hee won’t dissolve into a cloud of sparkles and ascend to a higher plane of existence.
And since I’m here anyway, have the trailer for The Restless a movie with Kim Tae Hee and Jung Woo Sung of which I am oddly fond. I also learned that it had finally come out in the US about 5 minutes before Amazon stopped carrying it, and I did not have extra money in those 5 minutes. Not that I’m bitter.
