May. 8th, 2011 09:15 amSo, As You Know Bob, I (usually critically but) unironically read Romance Novels. Specifically, Historical romances. Sometimes, I read ubertawdry covers in public, if that's what the book came with As You Also Know, Bob, I have...shall we say "issues" about the automatically dismissive attitude a lot of people have regarding them. And look, someone who is not me is doing the same.
Comments are ok so far, though I'm sure there will be "How can you think there's any merit to that garbage!" comments before long.
(Though part of the first comment seems to imply that "being happy and with people you love" is...not a valid goal for proagonists of a book? But then, I do mostly read Historicals, most of which also have some form of adventure/conspiracy plot also going on. But I seem to recall most contemporay romances having plots beyond "Get married!" too.)
